New NFL Commissioner Somehow Looks Like Less Of A Dork
In case you missed the live-blogging of the whole gripping experience yesterday, the NFL owners elected Roger Goodell their new commissioner yesterday, making him the third commissioner of the league in the last 46 years. (We can't believe that's true, by the way; there have been more popes, for crying out loud.)
Goodell immediately becomes the least craggly NFL commissioner of all time, barely edging out Elmer Layden, who had some boyish pluck to him as well.
Goodell better be good; the deal the NFL and the players just signed can be opted out of in 2009. By the way, we enjoy this picture immensely. Nothing the least bit awkward about two grown men helping each other hold a football whatsoever.
