Are the New York Jets moving on from Zach Wilson?
source: Getty Images Last week, Zach Wilson’s hometown newspaper, the Deseret News, reported that the New York Jets plan to trade the quarterback during the offseason.
Gang Green’s head coach Robert Saleh was asked about it and didn’t deny it.
“My conversations with [Wilson] are to do everything he can to get ready to play a football game,” Saleh said. “As far as all that other stuff is concerned, those are things I will leave for Joe [Douglas].”
It’s another interesting tidbit, coming on the heels of the Athletic’s report that Wilson was apprehensive about becoming the starter again, only for him to throw for 301 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in a 30-6 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.
“Anything can happen, especially in this sport, it’s like a New York minute, right?” Saleh said. “It swings from one pendulum to the next. He just needs to focus on week-to-week, just putting his best foot forward and just being the best version of him he can be.”
Wilson has been benched for Mike White (in 2022), and the since-released Tim Boyle this season.
The Jets (5-8) take on the Dolphins with Wilson again getting the start.
