Not the Greatest Career Swing for Lord Byron
The Falcons yesterday parted ways with seven players, including four-time Pro Bowl tight end Alge Crumpler and quarterback Byron Leftwich, who has capped a rapid descent from starting quarterback to journeyman with an unsure future.
Leftwich was surprisingly cast off the Jaguars the week before the regular season started, then failed to beat out Joey Harrington for the starting spot in Atlanta, which pretty clearly spells the effective end of your career as anything approaching a top-flight QB.
Oddly enough, it's Ravens fans - surely content with the stellar QB play their team is producing - who are most pleased with this development, as the team nearly traded up to take Leftwich in 2003, but opted to stay put and take Kyle Boller and Terrell Suggs. Well, uh, I, um, see your point, Bawlmer folks. 'Cause... BOLLER! YEAH!
