Notre Dame Sneaks By Stanford With Late Touchdown On Fourth-And-Long
Tons of craziness in the afternoon games today, and the top-15 matchups didn't disappoint. In the lone, non-SEC West top-15 battle of the day, Notre Dame and Stanford played a relatively quiet game until the fourth quarter.
Tied at seven, the Fighting Irish drew first blood with a field goal to take a 10-7 lead with under 10 minutes to go. The Cardinal responded with a nine-play, 58-yard touchdown drive to go ahead 14-10 with just over three minutes left. Notre Dame looked dead in the water on its next drive, facing a fourth-and-11 deep in Stanford territory. That's when Everett Golson stepped up, delivering a 23-yard touchdown pass to a wide open Ben Koyack for the game-winning score.
