Now They're Making Fun Of Jay Cutler In The Wisconsin Senate Race
Poor Jay Cutler. Jay Cutler did not ask for any of this. He did not ask to be born with the most hangdoggery hangdog face of all time. He did not ask for you to question his toughness. And he did not ask to become the punchline in the Wisconsin Senate Race. But that is what has happened.
On Monday, Wisconsin Republican Congressman Paul Ryan spoke at Chicago's Economic Forum, and he warmed up the crowd with a lil' Cutler dig:
I want to thank you all for inviting me to speak. It was especially gracious of you to host me, even though I'm a Packers fan and I assume most of you are Bears fans. But that doesn't mean we can't work together. As chairman of the House Budget Committee, I stand ready to do whatever it takes to help you re-sign Jay Cutler. I'm here to talk about the economy today — about the need to get four quarters of strong, consistent performance. That wasn't another Jay Cutler joke, I swear. It could be, but it's not.
And today, the Wisconsin Democratic Party took the chance to use Cutler in a knock against Republican Governor Tommy Thompson, who is expected to run for senate now that Ryan has opted against it. Matt Canter, spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, said in a statement:
Republicans would be better off with Jay Cutler as their candidate in Wisconsin. Cutler has at least helped the Green Bay Packers win a Super Bowl, while Tommy G. Thompson has spent the last decade doing the bidding of the Bush administration and his special-interest clients at his lobbying firm.
Oh, poor Jay Cutler. Look out for the lawn signs as the campaign progresses: Tommy G. Thompson: Because He's Not Jay Cutler.
