Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images Denver Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson was diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right knee and will miss some games, ESPN reported Wednesday.
No structural damage was detected in an MRI exam performed on the knee Johnson injured in Tuesday night's loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
The injury occurred with 9:18 remaining in the game. He was aided off the court after falling and grabbing his knee. He did not return.
"Hopefully, it's better than it looked," Denver coach David Adelman said.
The Nuggets lost, 131-130. They are already without two starters -- guard Christian Braun (ankle), out since a Nov. 12 injury, and forward Aaron Gordon (hamstring). Gordon sustained his injury on Nov. 21.
Johnson, 29, averages 11.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists through 28 games (all starts) this season, his first in Denver.
The Nuggets acquired Johnson in an offseason trade with the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Michael Porter Jr. and a first-round pick in 2032.
A first-round draft pick in 2019, Johnson previously also played for the Phoenix Suns.
He owns career averages of 12.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 368 games (209 starts). He's a lifetime 39.4% shooter from 3-point range and averages 2.3 3-pointers per game.
