Oklahoma State Basketball Player Tyrek Coger Dies After Collapsing Following Team Workout
Photo credit: [object Object] Oklahoma State University announced that 21-year-old basketball player Tyrek Coger died this evening after he collapsed during a team workout. Coger transferred to the Cowboys this month after last playing for Cape Fear Community College in North Carolina.
Coach Brad Underwood released the following statement:
“Tyrek was excited to be at Oklahoma State and had such passion for the game and was looking forward to being an OSU Cowboy. Losing a member of the team is like losing a member of the family. But we know our loss pales in comparison to the pain his family is going through.”
Oklahoma State did not list a cause of death. Coger apparently had an operation when he was in high school to remove fluid from around his brain, and he was forced to decommit from Missouri and attend college at Eastern Florida State before transferring to Cape Fear to be closer to his family.
