Once-Comatose Former Swimsuit Model Becomes First Woman To Ever Enter Australian Rodeo Event
Tammara Wrenn became the first female to ever enter "the southern hemisphere's biggest rodeo, at Mt Isa in Queensland" this weekend. This is noteworthy for two reasons.
The first: Ms. Wrenn is a former swimsuit model who was named Miss Calendar Girl Australia 2003. The second: that same year, a dirt-biking accident left her comatose and "pretty much clinically dead with all the damage to my brain."
"I was sitting in my wheelchair feeling sorry for myself but I wasn't getting anywhere so I just put all my energy into getting better, improving my strength and my speech. I had difficulties walking and struggled a lot. I spent a long time walking around my house in high heels practising modelling."
But five months later, she was back on the catwalk. ... Now 28, Wrenn is the only female registered with the Australian Professional Rodeo Association.
Congrats to her. And congrats to the fighting-back spirit.
