Oregon State Parlays Dropped Pop Fly Into Two-Out Ninth Inning Comeback In College World Series
credits: Nati Harnik | source: [object Object] Arkansas was just a lazy pop fly away from winning the College World Series. With Oregon State down 3-2 and facing their final out in the ninth inning of Game 2 on Wednesday night, a foul ball from Cadyn Grenier seemingly gifted them the end of the game. Then, three different Razorback fielders just let the championship fall between them.
Grenier went on to hit a game-tying single while on his final strike, scoring Zach Clayton from third.
And in the next at-bat, Trevor Larnach stepped up to the plate and smacked a ball just over the fence in right, giving the Beavers a 5-3 lead that would hold for the rest of the game and tie the series at one apiece.
At least it probably feels a little easier when three different goats can share the blame. Bill Buckner never had that luxury.
