Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports Jackson Shelstad shot 4-of-7 from 3-point range and led Oregon with 20 points, and the Ducks weathered a late-game scoring drought to hold off visiting UCLA, 64-59, on Saturday in Eugene, Oregon.
The Ducks (10-3, 2-0 Pac-12 Conference) went on a 12-2 run midway through the second half to take a lead they never relinquished, but which also never expanded to more than seven points.
After taking a 60-53 lead with 4:34 remaining, Oregon endured a scoreless stretch of more than four minutes during which UCLA cut the deficit to one point.
The Bruins (6-7, 1-1) capped their 6-0 run when Dylan Andrews hit a jumper with 32 seconds remaining. On the ensuing possession, Shelstad fed Kwame Evans Jr. for a dunk on the last of Shelstad's three assists.
Oregon successfully denied Andrews' would-be game-tying 3-point attempt to perverse the lead and put away the win with free throws on the other end.
Behind the effort of Shelstad, who came one point shy of matching the career scoring high he set on Thursday vs. Southern California, Oregon shot 10-of-25 from 3-point range. Jermaine Couisnard shot 3-of-6 from deep en route to 15 points and Jadrian Tracey made 2-of-3 beyond the arc in a 10-point performance off the bench.
Tracey also had a team-high four assists.
Andrews added six assists for UCLA and scored seven points, but went just 1-of-7 from 3-point range on a day the Bruins went 3-of-19 as a team. Berke Buyuktuncel made 1-of-2 on 3-point attempts and scored 12 points.
Lazar Stefanovic scored 10 points despite shooting 0-of-6 from beyond the arc. Adem Bona led UCLA with 15 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
UCLA enjoyed a 28-18 advantage in points in the paint behind the big man Bona, but the Bruins committed 16 turnovers to Oregon's 11.
The Ducks scored 17 fastbreak points to UCLA's seven.
