Orlando City Returns To Action With Emotional Pre-Game, 49:00 Remembrance
Tonight’s Orlando City-San Jose MLS match is the first major sporting event in that city since last weekend’s shooting at the Pulse nightclub killed 49 people, and the pre-game ceremony was as emotion-filled as you might expect as players from both teams entered the stadium in “Orlando United” shirts while hundreds of fans waved rainbow pride flags.
That, though, just set the stage for a scoreless first half. Four minutes into the second, to recognize the 49 victims, both teams ceased play for one minute:
