Patrick Kane Honors Dead Grandfather, Breaks Down After Game
Just before taking the ice for last night's game against the Kings, Patrick Kane learned that his grandfather had died. Kane played in the game, finishing with two goals and one assist. After scoring his first goal, seen above, Kane kissed his fingers and pointed skyward.
Kane was asked after the game if that motion was directed at his grandfather. That's when the tears came:
Later, Kane talked to NHL.com about his relationship with his grandfather:
He lived next door to me my whole childhood. We'd do things like play cards and hang out by the pool throughout the summers. He came to a lot of my hockey games, but more importantly, for him, he was worried about grades and being a good kid. It was a tough day, for sure.
Patrick Kane's grandfather seems like a good guy.
