Mandatory Credit: Paul Rutherford-Imagn Images New England Patriots receiver Ja'Lynn Polk is slated to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery, according to multiple reports on Thursday.
Polk apparently was injured while attempting to block during a preseason game against the Washington Commanders on Aug. 8. He immediately left the field after the play and eventually went to the locker room.
Polk, 23, also underwent shoulder surgery last March and he missed all the offseason camps and workouts and also missed the beginning of training camp. The game against Washington was his first since the surgery.
Polk was a second-round pick by the Patriots in 2024 but was mostly a non-factor. He caught 12 passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games (seven starts).
In his final college season (2023), Polk caught 69 passes for 1,159 yards and nine touchdowns for a Washington team that lost to Michigan in the College Football Playoff championship game.
