Pedro Martinez Is The Best
Pedro got voted into the Hall of Fame today, so now feels like as good a time as any to relive one of his greatest contributions to baseball history: gripping 72-year-old Don Zimmer by his big-ass head and tossing him face-first into the grass.
The important highlights from Game 3 of the 2003 ALCS are nicely packaged in the video above. There's Pedro Martinez telling Karim Garcia that if he'd actually been trying to hit him in the head, he'd be dead. There's Roger Clemens buzzing Manny Ramirez and then looking like a roided-out rage maniac. And then there's Pedro doing something to Don Zimmer that, had it occurred in the First Take era of sports media, may very well have started a race war. God, that was a good game. Pedro is the best.
