Penn State QB Drew Allar suffers season-ending injury

Penn State quarterback Drew Allar will miss the remainder of the season, according to head coach James Franklin.
Allar exited Saturday's game against Northwestern with an injury late in the fourth quarter.
"Drew will be done for the year," Franklin said in his postgame press conference.
The injury occurred on the penultimate play of the game when Allar was rushing to try and get a first down. He got crushed by a Northwestern defender and laid motionless. It appears to be a left leg injury but Franklin did not provide any more specifics.
The senior has suited up in 45 games for Penn State over the past four years, racking up 7,402 passing yards, 61 passing touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
In 2024, Allar helped guide the Nittany Lions to a 13-3 record and a semifinal appearance in the College Football Playoff.
However, Penn State has not been able to match that success, thus far, in 2025. They currently hold a 3-3 record after suffering a 21-22 loss to Northwestern and face an uphill battle for playoff contention.
Penn State has four other quarterbacks listed on their roster: Ethan Grunkemeyer, Bekkem Kritza, Jack Lambert, and Jaxon Smolik. On Saturday, Franklin turned to Grunkemeyer, who played the final down from scrimmage for the team.
The redshirt freshman saw brief game action this season against Nevada and Villanova. Overall, he completed eight of 11 passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for eight yards and a score.
