Mandatory Credit: Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images Petar Musa scored his third goal of the match five minutes into second-half stoppage time to give FC Dallas a dramatic 3-3 draw with visiting San Diego FC on Saturday.
Bernard Kamungo earned the assist on Musa's goal after making a great run into the box. Kamungo carried the ball past three San Diego defenders, and Musa had the final touch for the equalizer and the hat trick.
Musa has five goals in four matches for FC Dallas, who are 1-1-2 this season.
San Diego FC remains undefeated (3-0-1), though the club will likely view Saturday's match as a missed opportunity given how San Diego twice led by two goals.
Onni Valakari and Marcus Ingvartsen each scored on first-half penalty kicks, and Valakari added his second goal off a deflection in the 51st minute. Both Valakari and Ingvartsen have scored three goals this season.
In the 17th minute, a video review was required to see if Dallas defender Shaq Moore committed a handball foul in the box. The foul was confirmed, and Valakari buried the penalty kick in the 21st minute.
Ten minutes later, Ingvartsen converted San Diego's next penalty kick. Dallas defender Herman Johansson ran over David Vazquez during a race for the ball in the box, resulting in a costly yellow card.
FC Dallas responded in the 41st minute, as pressure from Musa and Joaquin Valiente forced goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega into an ill-advised clearance attempt. The result was a turnover deep in San Diego's end, and Musa's first shot was blocked before the striker deposited his own rebound.
The two clubs exchanged goals early in the second half. In the 51st minute, Alex Mighten sent a nice cross to Valakari in front, and Valakari was awarded the goal after his shot banked off defender Nolan Norris and into the net.
Valakari's brace was followed by Musa's second goal three minutes later, this time on a Dallas penalty kick. Sisniega earned the foul when the goalkeeper came way out of his net and ran into Kamungo as the Toros defender was chasing the ball into the box.
