Philadelphia Eagles Will Go as Far as Jalen Hurts Takes Them in 2025 Playoffs
Maybe the Eagles are better than we think. Nick Sirianni got to the office on Monday hoping they’re better than they showed Sunday in a 22-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
The Rams or Vikings will be in Philadelphia next week to help provide those answers.
They’ll be on the field Monday night, and Sirianni said the Eagles would be, too: “No Victory Monday,” he said.
"That's a great football team, and the reason it was hard, and the reason it didn't look perfect—we have a lot to clean up, is one, it's never perfect, but that's a good football team,” Sirianni said of the Packers.
Credit to the Eagles for the four takeaways that saved them from the opening-round home loss, and Jalen Hurts threw two TD passes. Fourth quarter field goals of 30 and 32 yards exhibit the Eagles left chances on the field, points that would’ve allowed Sirianni and others to exhale.
Philadelphia did set the tone from the opening kickoff, forcing a fumble that turned into immediate points on Hurts’ toss to Jahan Dotson, and Darius Slay, Zack Baun and Quinyon Mitchell all had interceptions of Jordan Love to underscore how challenging it can be to move the ball and put up points against the Eagles’ No. 1-ranked defense.
Hurts hit his first six passes but showed timing wasn’t perfect after missing three games with a concussion. He finished 13 of 21 passing for 161 yards and two touchdowns.
"It's all about winning. You know that's the only thing when you've got to the point where we are. So it's about finding ways to win," Hurts said.
The Eagles rushed for 169 yards, and another dominant showing by the offensive line gives Sirianni a jumping-off point in game-planning for Monday’s winner, who’ll travel to Philadelphia for Sunday’s game.
Will 290 net yards be enough to get a second victory and advance to the NFC Championship?
Perhaps, only because of the top-end performance the Eagles are counting on from their defense.
"We just try to go out there and do our job at a high level and we did of course all season. Like I said, this is a new part of the season that's way bigger. So all of us got bigger goals to go reach, and we're trying to reach them," Slay said.
