Phillies acquire OF Harrison Bader from Twins

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired outfielder Harrison Bader from the Minnesota Twins ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.
The Twins received outfielder Hendry Mendez and right-hander Geremy Villoria in exchange. MLB Pipeline ranked Mendez as the Phillies' No. 12 prospect.
Bader, 31, is batting .258 with 12 home runs and 38 RBIs in 96 games this season while playing all three outfield positions, including 70 games in left field.
The former Gold Glove Award winner in 2021 with St. Louis is a career .243 hitter with 83 home runs and 306 RBIs in 874 games with the Cardinals (2017-22), New York Yankees (2022-23), Cincinnati Reds (2023), New York Mets (2024) and Twins.
Mendez, 21, is batting .290 with eight home runs and 46 RBIs in 85 games at Double-A Reading, while Villoria, 16, has 19 strikeouts over 14 innings in the Dominican Summer League.
Bader is playing on a $4.75 million salary this season and has a $10 million mutual option for 2026 that includes a $1.5 million buyout that can increase to as much as $3 million with escalating plate-appearance incentives.
The Phillies are a half-game behind the New York Mets in the National League East and currently occupy the second NL wild-card spot.
On Wednesday, Philadelphia acquired right-handed relief pitcher Jhoan Duran from the Twins for right-hander Mick Abel and minor league catcher Eduardo Tait.
