Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports Brandon Marsh homered, tripled and drove in two runs to lift the host Philadelphia Phillies past the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 on Thursday.
Trea Turner hit a home run and a single for the Phillies, who polished off a three-game sweep. Kyle Schwarber added a solo homer for insurance.
Phillies starter Aaron Nola (11-4) tossed six innings and allowed four hits and one run with nine strikeouts and two walks.
The Phillies picked up their first series sweep against the Dodgers at Citizens Bank Park since a four-game sweep in August 2008.
Gavin Lux homered and singled for the Dodgers, who have dropped four in a row.
Landon Knack had been scheduled to start for the Dodgers, but manager Dave Roberts opted to open with Anthony Banda (1-2). Banda, who threw the first inning, gave up the homer to Turner and Knack surrendered the shot to Marsh in the second.
Knack gave up six hits and three runs in 4 1/3 innings.
With a runner on first and one out in the seventh, pinch hitter Enrique Hernandez hit what looked to be a surefire extra-base hit. But Phillies center fielder Johan Rojas made a spectacular catch in front of the fence.
The Dodgers loaded the bases with one out in the eighth, but Miguel Rojas lined into a 4-6 double play.
Schwarber launched a solo shot, his 19th homer of the year, into the second deck in right for a 5-1 advantage in the bottom of the eighth.
The Phillies went ahead 1-0 when Turner hit a solo home run to right-center field two batters into the game. Marsh launched a solo shot in the second for a 2-0 advantage. It was both players' ninth homers of the year.
The Dodgers managed three hits through the first three innings, a double by Miguel Rojas and singles by Lux and Teoscar Hernandez.
Lux crushed a solo homer in the fifth to close the Dodgers within 2-1.
After Knack retired 11 batters in a row, Nick Castellanos singled with one out in the sixth. Marsh followed with an RBI triple to right and Johan Rojas contributed an RBI single for a 4-1 lead.
