Pirates Catcher Tony Sanchez Cartwheels Into Dugout To Make Catch
Chris Denorfia's foul pop was hit just far enough into the Padres dugout for Tony Sanchez to lunge over the railing to grab it. But there was no stopping Sanchez from going heels up, power tumbling off a ledge, and landing on his ass on the concrete floor several feet below.
Justin Morneau did try to grab Sanchez before he went all the way over, but by then it was too late.
All this in the top of the eighth, with the Pirates clinging to an eight-run lead. Sanchez was uninjured and stayed in the game. The Pirates, two games behind the Cardinals in the NL Central entering the day, won to avoid a four-game sweep at home.
