Player Reacts To Getting Red Carded In Uruguay By Pimp-Slapping The Linesman
In a recent Uruguayan Primera Division match between the mighty Montevideo Wanderers and Danubio, Brazilian striker Diogo was issued a red card for kicking a foe, etc. Fair enough. However, Diogo apparently didn't take to kindly to somethingorother the "humble" linesman did, so Diogo give 'im a smack.
This led the commentator to say "no" several times as the whistle-boos rained down. For his part, Diogo felt regret.
In an interview with Uruguayan newspaper El Observador, Diogo said he has tried to call the linesman four times and was brought to tears as he left the field of play and headed for the changing rooms.
"I'm very sorry and I was wrong. Even my mother who was in Brazil watched what I did," the 22-year-old said.
