Dvonta Middlebrooks, Chazerae Taylor, and D’Markeo Taylor were all arrested Sunday in connection with the ongoing investigation, according to the Lexington Police Department. The 21-year-old Middlebrooks was charged with wanton endangerment and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; the 38-year-old Chazerae and his 19-year-old son D’Markeo were each charged with wanton endangerment.
Police also reported they had recovered two cars that witnesses said were involved in the shooting.
Witnesses told police that there had been a shootout between two cars at the Cook Out at about 4 a.m. Gay, who WKYT reported was not in either car, was shot in the neck. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
She had tweeted a couple of hours before the shooting:
Gay’s family released a statement today on Trinity’s death. Via WKYT:
“The family appreciates the outpouring of support during the loss of our beautiful Trinity. She will be truly missed by all. She touched so many people on so many different levels. We ask for your continued prayers and privacy during this difficult time.”
“We are a family that believes in love and forgiveness. We are also asking for prayers for the 3 men accused and their families during what is also a difficult time for them.”
