Pro Basketball Player Wounded In Brussels Terrorist Attack
One of the more jarring photos to come out of the aftermath of today’s terrorist attack in Brussels shows a man lying on the floor of the airport, bleeding from his legs. That man has since been identified as Sebastien Bellin, a basketball player who currently plays for the Gent Hawks in Blegium’s pro league.
Bellin’s former team, BC Oostende, reported the news via its Twitter account:
Translation: “We wish our ex-player Sebastien Bellin lots of strength and a speedy recovery! UPDATE: Sebastian Bellin has his first surgery. There are now still shards in his leg and hip. He was thrown out 20 m.”
Bellin played college ball at Marist and Oakland University from 1996-2000. The 37-year-old has been playing professionally in Europe ever since.
