Pro Football Hall Of Fame Calls Up Sapp, Parcells, Ogden, Allen and Carter
The NFL's next Hall of Fame class, just announced, has a few dudes the TV made famous. There's Bill Parcells, who made a coaching career of winning two Super Bowls with the Giants and then convincing other teams believe he might ever do it again; Cris * Carter, who just proved that even Jerry Rice Lite was Hall of Fame material; and Warren Sapp, who would've been a New York Jet, if only the team's fans could be heard, dammit, just once.
You probably also remember offensive linemen Jonathan Ogden, the longtime Raven and obvious miracle-worker who helped send Trent Dilfer to Disney World, and Larry Allen, who holds the Cowboys record for most Pro Bowls by an offensive player and who used to be able to bench, I shit you not, 700 pounds.
The senior circuit waved in Curley Culp, who played defensive tackle for the Chiefs and the Oilers; and Dave Robinson, the former Packers and Redskins linebacker.
Among those who didn't make it: finalists Andre Reed, Aeneas Williams, Charles Haley, Michael Strahan and Jerome Bettis; and everyone else on the planet. If you're not one of the seven people who made it, chin up. Next year's just a year away.
