Backup quarterback Aidan O'Connell fractured his right wrist in a 20-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in the teams' preseason finale.
O'Connell will need surgery, per Raiders head coach Pete Carroll. O'Connell is expected to be out of action for six-to-eight weeks.
"(O'Connell) is going to be out for a while," Carroll said. "We got to see what we can do and keep developing Cam (Miller)."
Miller, a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, stepped in and completed 12 of 24 passes for 124 yards against the Cardinals.
O'Connell, who turns 27 on Sept. 1, is expected to be headed to the injured reserve list. That means the Raiders are down to starter Geno Smith and Miller, so it's likely they're in the market for an additional quarterback.
Carroll had a succinct response when asked if Miller was ready to be the Raiders' second-string quarterback: "We'll see."
Miller has seen on-field time mostly with the third-team offense this preseason. With the third-stringers, he went 32-for-61 for 305 yards with a touchdown and an interception, prompting additional caution from Carroll.
"Let's see what happens here," Carroll told ESPN. "I'll have to go and check the film."
