Prior to Friday's deal, he was set to become a restricted free agent in July after he played out the final season of a two-year, $4.65 million contract he signed in August 2023.

He has totaled 155 points (79 goals, 76 assists) in 305 games since being selected by the Rangers with the top overall pick of the 2020 NHL Draft.
