New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe has been offered an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety and is facing discipline for his actions in the team's 3-1 win at Dallas on Friday.

An in-person hearing allows the NHL the ability to issue a suspension of six games or longer.

The hearing's date and time have not been determined.

Rempe was penalized for elbowing Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen in the head at 7:10 of the third period. Rempe and Stars center Roope Hintz also received roughing penalties during the incident. Rempe received a major penalty and a game misconduct.

Rempe, 22, has no points, 24 penalty minutes and 12 hits in five games this season. Listed at 6-foot-9 and 255 pounds, he played in 17 games last season with New York and totaled one goal, one assist, 71 penalty minutes and 50 hits in 17 games.

He was suspended for four games by the NHL in March for elbowing New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler in the head.

The Rangers selected Rempe in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft.
