Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports Friday's game between the visiting Texas Rangers and New York Yankees was postponed due to forecasts of heavy rain.
The teams will play a single-admission doubleheader Saturday when the forecast is projected for 85 degrees and sunny. The first game will start at 1:05 p.m. ET, with the second game starting approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener.
Carlos Rodon (12-7, 4.37 ERA) was slated to pitch Friday for the Yankees and likely gets one of the games and Gerrit Cole (3-2, 5.09 ERA) was Saturday's originally scheduled starter.
Cody Bradford (3-0, 3.96) was set to pitch Friday for the Rangers and Nathan Eovaldi (8-5, 3.62) was scheduled to pitch Saturday for the defending champions.
The Rangers enter the series with nine losses in their last 12 games and are 5 1/2 games out of first place in the AL West after dropping two of three at home to the Houston Astros. Texas spent Thursday's off-day celebrating its first World Series title by visiting the White House in Washington, D.C.
The Yankees will be playing their second doubleheader in four days after splitting two games against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. New York played through rain on Thursday and was handed a 9-4 loss to the Angels.
The Yankees are 8-3 in their past 11 games but 3-3 in a stretch of 15 straight against teams with losing records.
