Raul Ibanez Comes Through With A Game-Tying Home Run To Send Game One Of The ALCS Into Extra Innings
With fans filing out in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Yankees down to their last out, Raul Ibanez did what Raul Ibanez apparently does, hitting a game-tying home run to send the first game of the ALCS to extra innings. Jose Valverde had given up a two-run home run to Ichiro earlier in the inning, and after striking out Robinson Cano and walking Mark Teixeira, threw Ibanez something that caught a little too much of the plate. Ibanez continues his unreal postseason—at the moment, he has 6 hits in 13 at-bats, including three home runs (two to tie games, one to win)—and the Yankees fans that stuck around for a desolate ninth get richly rewarded for their patience.
