Rays Hitter Breaks Three Bats On Three Straight Swings
They say a bat that breaks in the service of a hit "died a hero." Jerry Sands sent a couple soldiers over the top as cannon fodder.
On three consecutive swings in the top of the eighth yesterday, Sands shattered three bats, all on inside fastballs from Jerome Williams. The third went for an RBI single, the eventual game-winner.
