Red Sox Fan Arrested After Allegedly Grabbing Rays Mascot By The Neck
Trevor James Martin attended last night's Red Sox-Rays game at the Trop. But he spent the rest of his night in the Pinellas County (Fla.) Jail after police say he grabbed Raymond, the Rays' giant blue mascot, by the neck.
Twice.
Martin, 27, reached across the stadium's railing and twice grabbed Raymond by the neck, officers said. Martin was staggering, slurring his words and smelled of alcohol, according to an arrest affidavit. Raymond pushed back and broke free, police said.
Martin told police he had two beers, because of course. The person who wears the Raymond costume declined to press battery charges. Martin was booked on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly intoxication and released this morning on $100 bail. He lives in the Boston suburbs.
