Red Sox Score 22 Runs For Ben Affleck
The Boston Red Sox have had a shit year, until very recently. In the approximately 24 hours since manager John Farrell announced he had been diagnosed with lymphoma, the team has scored, by my math, one million runs.
Yesterday, they toasted the Mariners 15-1, then topped it off today with a 22-10 walloping, which included 10 runs off of King Felix Hernandez. Today’s tally beats out the Yankees for the most in a game this year. The win also broke another record of sorts.
Ben Affleck, the batman, has not seen his Boston Red Sox win on his birthday since “Good Will Hunting” came out in 1997. The Sox have gone 0-15 on August 15 since the movie came out, which, since it’s Boston we’re talking about here, was undoubtedly the work of a curse. Congratulations Ben, Red Sox fans. You’re free.
The Ben Affleck Birthday Curse is survived by its friend, the Curse of the Billy Goat.
