Mandatory Credit: Brett Davis-Imagn Images Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene was removed from Wednesday night's game against the host Atlanta Braves in the bottom of the fourth inning after suffering a right groin injury.
Greene, 25, was warming up to pitch the bottom of the fourth when he bounced a pitch in the dirt and looked into the dugout. Reds manager Terry Francona and a trainer came to the mound and Greene was taken to the clubhouse for examination.
Before exiting, Greene allowed two hits and struck out six over three scoreless innings. Entering Wednesday's start, the right-hander was 4-2 with a 2.53 ERA, 55 strikeouts, eight walks and a .82 WHIP in seven starts.
Greene is coming off his first All-Star campaign, posting a 9-5 record, 2.75 ERA, 169 strikeouts, 57 walks and a 1.018 WHIP over 26 starts in 2024.
In his fourth season with the Reds, Greene is 22-27 with a 3.76 ERA in 79 starts, notching 540 strikeouts along with 161 walks and a 1.159 WHIP.
