Remember When GameFan Published This Insane, Racist Review Of NCAA '96?
EA Sports’s College Football USA ‘96— one of the earliest entries in the late, great —was groundbreaking. Not only was it the first game to include every team from what was then called Division I-A, it was the first to include real bowl games. None of these features were mentioned in the game’s review that appeared in GameFan magazine, though:
Yes, that’s an incredibly profane and racist review of something that sounds nothing like a football video game—because it’s not. GameFan claimed it was the victim of sabotage, though we all later learned that the text was filler that accidentally made it to print.
This will not fulfill your need for a new college football video game, but it’s a bit of history of which you might not be aware.
