Report: Clippers sign Blake Wesley to 10-day hardship contract
Los Angeles Clippers guard Blake Wesley (20) moves to the basket against Denver Nuggets forward Zeke Nnaji (22) during the second half at Intuit Dome. With turnovers and injuries mounting, the Los Angeles Clippers signed guard Blake Wesley to a 10-day injury-hardship contract exception, ESPN reported Thursday.
The Clippers had six players out with injuries during Wednesday's 103-87 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, including guards Bradley Beal, Jordan Miller and Max Strus. Head coach Tyronn Lue added that point guard and leading scorer Darius Garland was playing through back tightness.
The Clippers committed 24 more turnovers than the Lakers, with Garland contributing five of them in 26 minutes. The Clippers lead the NBA with 23.5 turnovers per game, three more than the next closest team.
Wesley, 23, was the 25th overall draft pick by the San Antonio Spurs in 2022. He played his first three seasons with the Spurs and was with the Portland Trail Blazers last season.
In 187 career games (four starts) over four seasons, he has averaged 4.4 points and 2.4 assists with 1.1 turnovers.
Wesley signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Clippers on Sept. 27 and was waived on Oct. 17, just before the season began.
