Report: Commanders hire Bobby Johnson as offensive line coach

The Washington Commanders have hired former New York Giants offensive line coach Bobby Johnson for the same role, the NFL Network reported Monday.
The Giants fired Johnson, 50, at the end of the 2023 regular season, when the offensive line allowed 85 sacks, the second most in NFL history since the league tracked the statistic.
Johnson had followed Giants head coach Brian Daboll to New York in 2022 after they worked together on the Buffalo Bills staff from 2019-21, with Johnson as the OL coach.
Johnson's NFL experience includes a first stint with the Bills from 2010-11 as assistant OL coach and time in the league a tight ends coach and/or assistant OL coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2012), Detroit Lions (2013-14), Oakland Raiders (2015-17) and Indianapolis Colts (2018).
The Giants replaced Johnson with former Las Vegas Raiders OL coach Carmen Bricillo on Jan. 11. Johnson replaces Travelle Wharton in Washington.
