Mandatory Credit: Jesse Johnson-Imagn Images The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to bolster their bullpen with an old friend by landing right-hander Brock Stewart from the Minnesota Twins, ESPN reported Thursday.
The return on the deal to the Twins was not reported.
The Dodgers were expected to acquire bullpen help at the deadline with multiple injuries and a 4.24 ERA from their relievers this season.
Stewart, 33, was a sixth-round draft pick by the Dodgers in 2014 and made his major league debut with the club in June 2016. He was selected off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays from the Dodgers in 2019.
Stewart is 2-1 with a 2.38 ERA in 39 relief appearances with the Twins this season and has 41 strikeouts in 34 innings. In seven major league seasons, Stewart is 10-4 with a 4.48 ERA in 129 appearances (11 starts) for the Dodgers, Blue Jays and Twins.
The Dodgers also reacquired Stewart in December 2020 but he did not pitch with the club then after undergoing Tommy John surgery that kept him out of the 2021 season. He signed with the Twins in July 2022.
