Report: Dwight Howard Called Magic Owner During A Game To Tell Him He Won't Play For Stan Van Gundy
WKMG in Orlando is reporting that Dwight Howard called up owner Rich DeVos , and told him he won't play as long as Stan Van Gundy is coaching. Howard has already missed six games with a back injury, and Van Gundy has said he's prepared to finish the season and the playoffs without him.
Howard is pissed at that incredible Van Gundy interview where he told media Howard asked for him to be fired, and then casually strolled away just as Howard came on the scene. I watch that video daily, just to remind myself that it actually happened.
So it seems the braintrust's choices are two: fire Van Gundy to placate Howard, or trade Howard and keep Van Gundy. The most likely scenario? Fire Van Gundy, Howard leaves anyway, build the team around Ryan Anderson. Orlando is Magic.
