Report: Giants OT Ereck Flowers Shoved ESPN Reporter
Al Bello/ [object Object] It is unclear exactly why Giants second-year offensive tackle Ereck Flowers has it out for ESPN.com Giants beat writer Jordan Raanan. But he totally does.
After the Giants’ 23-16 loss in Green Bay last night, not a good game for Flowers, the lineman was speaking with two reporters at his locker when Raanan approached. NJ.com’s Dan Duggan—who I can only assume was one of those two reporters— narrates what happened next:
Here’s the entire 10-second exchange, which ended when Flowers gave Raanan a shove with his left hand that sent the reporter back a few steps.
Flowers: “Hey, get out my face man. Don’t come over here.”
When Raanan didn’t move, Flowers moved his face close to the reporter’s and asked, “You hear me?”
Raanan: “I’m just trying to do my job.”
Flowers: “Go over there.”
Raanan: “I’m just trying to do my job.”
Flowers: “Get the (expletive) out of my face, bro.”
Raanan: “I’m just trying to do my job.”
Flowers then said, “Go over there, man,” as he shoved Raanan.
Flowers turned back to his locker and Raanan walked away.
I’m unaware of any history between Flowers and Raanan, who joined ESPN.com this summer after three years at NJ.com. So there’s no obvious explanation for what set Flowers off. He did come up a few times in Raanan’s live-tweeting of the game:
I have no idea if Flowers saw or heard about those tweets, or if he’d even have had time to be made aware of them before meeting the media after the game. (I’ve asked Raanan for comment and haven’t heard back. The Giants declined comment to NJ.com.)
Raanan appears ready to move on from whatever happened.
