Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports Los Angeles Lakers guard Gabe Vincent is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery to treat his left knee and will miss another six to eight weeks, The Athletic reported Monday.
The procedure could be performed as early as Tuesday, per the report.
An offseason free agent signee, Vincent appeared in just four games before suffering the knee injury, missed 23 games, then returned for the Lakers' 124-108 loss at Chicago last Wednesday. He has not played since because of inflammation in the knee.
In his limited action with the Lakers, Vincent is averaging 5.4 points and 3.0 assists over 25.4 minutes per game.
Vincent, 27, signed a three-year, $33 million deal with the Lakers in July. He spent the previous four seasons with the Miami Heat, appearing in 195 games (68 starts) and averaging 7.7 points.
He was a key figure last postseason for the Heat, playing 30.5 minutes per game and averaging 12.7 points in 22 games, highlighted by a 29-point outburst in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. Miami reached the NBA Finals before losing to the Denver Nuggets.
