The first and second rounds would be held on successive nights on June 26 and 27, per the report.
The league is awaiting approval from the National Basketball Players Association to make it official.
Multiple factors are said to be behind the potential format change, including additional television time/revenue.
Teams reportedly have been frustrated by the fast pace of the second round in past years. Also, a break between the rounds theoretically would give teams more time to negotiate trades.
