Report: Packers QB Jordan Love to miss 'a few weeks'
Sep 6, 2024; Sao Paulo, BRA; Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) is assisted off the field after an injury during the second half against the Philadelphia Eagles at Neo Quimica Arena. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love only is expected to miss "a few weeks" with a Grade 1/2 MCL sprain, NFL Network reported on Sunday.
The injury could see him return in as little as three weeks, per the report, but has the potential to keep him out for up to six weeks.
Initial tests had indicated that Love didn't sustain any ACL damage and that his ACL is "intact," NFL Network reported on Saturday.
Love sustained the injury to his lower left leg and was helped off the field with six seconds left in Friday night's season-opening 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Love, 25, had just completed a 33-yard pass to Jayden Reed at midfield while trying to rally the Packers. When he dropped back to pass on the next snap, he was hit by Eagles defenders Josh Sweat and Jalen Carter and appeared to twist his leg while falling to the ground.
Backup Malik Willis, acquired in a trade last week with the Tennessee Titans, replaced Love and threw an incompletion before taking a sack on the final play. It's reportedly still unclear whether Willis or last year's backup Sean Clifford will start when the Packers play the visiting Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Love, who signed a four-year, $220 million contract on July 26, finished Friday's game with 260 yards on 17-of-34 passing with two touchdowns and an interception.
