Report: Rockets, Amen Thompson reach 5-year, $208M extension

Houston Rockets guard Amen Thompson has agreed to a five-year, $208 million rookie-scale contract extension, ESPN reported Thursday morning.

Per the report, Thompson's deal includes a 10% trade kicker.

Thompson, 23, is entering the final season of a four-year rookie contract he signed in 2023. He will earn $12.26 million this season, per Spotrac, before his new deal starts in the summer of 2027.

Once Thompson signs, the Rockets will have locked up their young core of Thompson, Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason to multi-year contracts.

Thompson led the NBA in minutes played (2,953) last season while averaging career highs in points (18.3), assists (5.3) and steals (1.5).

He has averaged 14.3 points and 7.6 rebounds in 210 career games (144 starts) since being selected by the Rockets with the fourth overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft.
