Report: Steven Stamkos Will Stay With The Lightning

The hockey stove is engulfed in flames and burning the house down and everyone is crying. Forward Steven Stamkos will reportedly shirk all other suitors before they have a chance, and re-sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The NHL’s free agency period doesn’t open until July 1, but according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, the 26-year-old Stamkos will stay with the Bolts in an eight-year deal:

The Red Wings had shoved off Pavel Datsyuk’s contract to the Coyotes last week in order to make cap space for a run at Stamkos. The dream was fun while it lasted.
