Report: Sun sets on potential Kevin Durant deadline deal

After he nearly was the latest superstar to be moved during a wild NBA trade season, the Phoenix Suns will end up keeping forward Kevin Durant, ESPN reported just as Thursday's trade deadline arrived.
The Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets were among the teams reportedly making pitches for Durant ahead of Thursday's deadline.
The Suns on Tuesday listed Durant as doubtful on their injury report for Wednesday's road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder just as trade rumors perked up.
The Warriors ended up acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat, with Durant saying he wasn't interested in returning to the Bay Area anyway. The Mavericks acquired Caleb Martin after landing Anthony Davis from the Los Angeles Lakers in a blockbuster deal for Luka Doncic.
Durant, 36, is a 15-time All-Star and is 26 points away from becoming the eighth player in NBA history to score 30,000 career points.
Durant has averaged 26.9 points with 6.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 39 games this season. In 17 seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder (2007-16), Warriors (2016-19), Brooklyn Nets (2020-23) and Suns, Durant has averaged 27.2 points with 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
