Reports: Angels, RHP Kyle Hendricks agree to $3M deal

Free agent right-hander Kyle Hendricks agreed to a one-year deal worth $3 million with the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday, the first day of MLB free agency, according to multiple reports.
Hendricks was 4-12 in 2024 with the Chicago Cubs.
Hendricks spent his 11-year career with the Cubs and turned in a solid finish last season after being briefly removed from the rotation. But he posted a career-worst 5.92 ERA in 29 games (24 starts) for the Cubs, his third season in the past four years with an ERA over 4.75.
Hendricks' fastball speed averages 87.4 mph in his career but his exit velocity allowed metrics have consistently ranked near the top of the MLB advanced metrics in limiting hard contact.
Right-hander Jose Soriano, 26, and lefty Tyler Anderson (34) are projected to be at the top of the Angels' rotation in 2025 barring additional acquisitions. The Angels traded starter Griffin Canning to the Braves last week to acquire Jorge Soler, but have right-hander Jack Kochanowicz and left-hander Reid Detmers to round out the starting five.
Hendricks turns 35 on Dec. 7. In his 11 MLB seasons, Hendricks has appeared in 276 games with a record of 97-81 and an ERA of 3.68.
