The former first-round pick spent most of this season with the Chicago Cubs, going 0-1 with a 9.20 ERA in 11 games out of the bullpen.
Pearson is 9-6 with a 5.17 ERA and three saves in 123 career games (six starts) with the Toronto Blue Jays (2020-21, 2023-24) and Cubs (2024-25). Toronto drafted him with the 28th pick in 2017.
The Athletic and ESPN both reported Friday on the Astros' deal with Pearson, who was released by the Cubs on Sept. 21.
