Reports: Jets retain MLB Jamien Sherwood on 3-year, $45M deal

The New York Jets have retained standout middle linebacker Jamien Sherwood with a three-year, $45 million deal, according to reports on Sunday night.
The deal reportedly includes $30 million in guaranteed money.
Sherwood was New York's team MVP last season when he recorded a career-best 158 tackles, including an NFL-best 98 solo stops. He also had two sacks while playing in all 17 games (16 starts).
Sherwood, 25, was a priority to the Jets and recently hired general manager Darren Mougey and coach Aaron Glenn. The club wanted to sign Sherwood before he hit the free agent market.
Sherwood's leap into stardom could spell the end of C.J. Mosley's New York tenure. Mosley is a candidate to be released.
Sherwood was a fifth-round pick in 2021 and only started seven games over his first three seasons before making a big step last season.
Overall, Sherwood has 235 tackles in 56 games (23 starts) in four NFL seasons.
