Multiple outlets are reporting today that Landon Donovan will retire from soccer at the end of the MLS season. This is sad news that we all saw coming from the moment his name was left off the USMNT's World Cup roster.

Donovan served on the United States men's national team in 2000, and over the next 14 years, evolved into the greatest American soccer player ever. He's the second-most capped player ever, with 156 appearances, has scored (57) and assisted (58) more goals than any other USMNT player, and is the only American to record 50 of each.

Last night, in his final All-Star appearance, Donovan subbed in the second half and scored the game-winning goal to lift the MLS All-Stars, 2-1, over FC Bayern, one of the best teams in the world. He was subbed off soon after.
