Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-Imagn Images Right-hander Luis Severino and the A's reached agreement on a three-year, $67 million contract, multiple media outlets reported Thursday.
Per reports, Severino's guaranteed money is the largest in the history of the franchise. ESPN reported that Severino can opt out of the contract after the second year.
Severino, 30, rejected a one-year, $21.05 million qualifying offer after posting an 11-7 record with a 3.91 ERA in 31 starts last season with the New York Mets. He struck out 161 batters across 182 innings.
A two-time All-Star with the New York Yankees (2017, 2018), Severino dealt with numerous injuries and underwent Tommy John surgery in February 2020.
Severino is 65-44 with a 3.81 ERA in 172 games (156 starts) with the Yankees (2015-19, 2021-23) and Mets.
The A's will play in Sacramento for the next three seasons before a planned move to Las Vegas.
